Every time I have a session with this wonderful family, I really look forward to it because they are so sweet. I first met them two years ago for a maternity session before this little cutie in the yellow dress was born. Then I got to meet Zara at her newborn session and later see her eat cake for her one year cake smash. One of my favorite cake smash images came from this session. In the last cake smash image, she had her hand on her head and her facial expression was priceless. Now she’s walking around and talking to me.
Aisha looked beautiful in her gown. We had the perfect weather for our October 3rd session on the grounds at the Shrine of St. Anthony. One of the things I love the most about maternity and family sessions, is seeing all of my little friends. I’m a hugger, and Covid has me keeping my distance, so not being able to reach out my arms or my hand is tough. Zara was reaching her hand out to me to hold so she could take me to show me something. Out of courtesy for everyone’s health, I’m doing contactless sessions, so having to back up breaks my heart. I really love all of these little people, and I wish things were different. But I feel that it is really important to follow the science and do what we need to do to keep everyone safe.
Zara’s favorite part of this location was the fountain, of course. Most little ones love playing by the water. I love that my office is “the outdoors,” and working with awesome families in nature is a dream job! Now that I’ve had a few years to become really comfortable with my camera settings and giving my clients posing prompts, I’ve noticed something this year. I am also able to live in the moment and take in the beautiful landscape while we walk during our sessions. And I think about how peaceful and relaxing it is to be in nature. I hope to have many more maternity sessions like this one. 🙂
